Futurelearn

Futurelearn - a UK based company launched by the Open University in December 2012 - looks interesting if you enjoy moocs (massive open online courses).

  1. MOOCs could be useful for students on Wolfed courses, though they are primarily academic and not vocational.

  2. There was an interesting programme on Radio 4 this morning about MOOCS. A lecturer at MIT originally set up a free online course which he thought might get "a couple of hundred" students on board. In fact 150,000 people initially signed up. Out of that, 7,000 actually completed the course. Just shows the potential of online learning to enable few staff to teach masses of students. This kind of learning is obviously dependent on the student being IT literate, having adequate online access and being sufficiently self-motivated.
